3.07 No Enhancement Oval Orange Red Burma Spinel

Description
This is a super rare old Burmese stone back for liquidation. In the old days, we called this type of stone a flame spinel, because it looks like flaming fire. Originally bought in the 1990's, this color is highly desirable and not often seen since the last century. The only other one was back in the mid 1980's. As most know, spinels tend to be primarily red, orange, pink, purple or blue. The brand new AGL Prestige Gem Report says the stone is orange-red or approximately 50% orange and 50% red, with red being the slight predominant color. Most spinels are one color predominately but this has has a beautiful combination of two desirable colors. AGL grades the stone as 3.5/75, a top color grade for an exceptional rock. We consider 75 tone perfect, neither too dark nor too light which means the stone never goes dark in bad lighting conditions. The clarity is MI2 but the inclusions are hidden and not obvious in the middle (table) of the stone. The cutting is typical Burmese standards of Good (6) and the finish is Very Good to Good (4-5). The gem has high brilliancy at 50-100%. Of course, the stone has no heat or evidence of clarity enhancement. The Total Quality Index rating is Very Good or 3.5. A super collectible for a spinel connoisseur or fantastic mounted. A 3 carat unheated Burma ruby with these numbers would be at least $100,000 per carat, so you can own this for 6% of that wholesale price. They traditionally sell for 25% of unheated Burma rubies, so this gem has a large upside potential.
